Offering support to the whole person includes curiosity, openness and understanding of the unique connection each individual may have to their very unique experience of their lives and to what they truly value. I honour and hold sacred whatever way this is expressed and followed in their life.

How I Offer Support

  • Supportive and Compassionate Listening: mediating the internal experience with tools such as Parts Work (based on a coaching perspective of Internal Family Systems) and with Nonviolent Communication as the foundation.

  • Ceremony Creation and Facilitation

  • Conflict Coaching and Mediation based on Nonviolent Communication

  • Transformative Mindfulness Methods

  • Relaxation techniques including Reiki

All these offerings are intended to bring meaning and purpose to the significant moments that we experience in life through self-compassion and healing potential.

  • Listening and expressing using Compassionate Communication for understanding and connection throughout times of transition 

  • Supporting family members with skillful listening to any fears or concerns as they arise

  • Techniques for relaxation, Reiki, Mindfulness, Compassionate Communication, Meditation tools

  • Offering a way to communicate their feelings to their loved ones, and sharing how to listen even when a family member is no longer verbally able to express themselves

  • Supporting and mediating challenging conversations with other family members, with the loved one themself, or with the caregivers and community in which they are living and supported

  • Education of family members on how to be present with death and dying, what is happening in this process, and how they can best support their loved ones

Individuals Preparing for End of Life

Support is offered in the following ways:

  • Supportive listening to determine and clarify needs 

  • Comfort measures including mindfulness, visualizations, relaxation techniques, Reiki (hands-on gentle healing) 

  • Creating a plan for an end of life that is meaningful, peaceful, unique to their needs 

  • Helping with any unfinished business with self, with others, and with practical needs

  • Supporting clarity around Advanced Care Directives

  • Legacy work - Exploring what and how they want to be remembered including creating keepsakes, conversations, rituals/ceremonies for themselves and with those who are in their loving circle

  • Responding to the changing needs as they arise and offering support in ways that align with the important values identified and what they feel is important for their comfort and care considering the psycho-social and spiritual needs

  • Experiencing self-compassion through Parts Work, Transformative Mindfulness Methods, and Compassionate Communication 

  • Offering ceremony for saying goodbye including graciously letting go of a home, of their loved ones, of their life.

  • Offering support and facilitation for challenging conversations 

  • How to prepare for dying intellectually, emotionally and spiritually to bring meaning, peace, care and empowerment

  • Offering documentation of wishes to be shared with family and place of residence which could be home support, hospice, hospital, long-term care

  • Bridging the care between family members, loved ones and caregivers

  • Tools for regulating the nervous system through breathing, meditation, and Reiki

Caregivers

PSWs, Nurses & Staff

Bridging the understanding of the individual’s wishes and the changing care needs that caregivers are providing along their journey. 

  • Training in empathic listening, Reiki, comfort measures, presence 

  • Time for caregivers to express feelings, concerns and grief 

  • Continuing Education for Caregiving Staff Guided groups for those who are open to talking about end-of-life and their experience with grief and loss in a supported and safe space of sharing and connecting with themselves and each other.

Community

I offer also support by speaking to community groups and school classes about transitional support, compassionate communication and end-of-life care.
